Tidal Wave 48″x48″ Acrylic on Tile Board with Black Frame, April 2014.

Tidal Wave is the name of this beach bar I envisioned in a dream I had that I was partying with friends at a beach bar and a tidal wave came and swept us away. The main theme behind this piece is the overwhelming feeling of being stuck with obligations when you just want to relax and have fun. The overcast of responsibilities that must be maintained in adulthood often shadows the desire to be youthful and enjoy life to the fullest. In addition, it expresses the dismal feeling of being bottled up indoors during the long, cold months of winter. I was going to name the bar Bottled Up because that is also a feeling the piece has. Tidal Wave beach bar was created 2014. There is a blue feeling to this painting like water, and there appears to be a light on inside of the bar. Several figures are guests at the bar. One is falling off the bar stool because of the tidal wave.
