Park Avenue 16″x20″ Oil on Paper, 2015.

“Park Avenue” portrays the interior of a room which is located in a city building. It also depicts a male figure gazing out of the window, with a table in the foreground that has a cactus and a wine bottle upon it. The objects in the painting gives the viewers the notion that the objects are slanting, which provides the illusion of unbalance. A stool on the left side of the painting is positioned in the opposite direction, adding more to the feeling of unbalance. This abstract painting was created using mostly oil paint in addition to oil pastels on paper. There is a classical art motif similar to Matisse and the design of the room is similar to patterns found in Biedermeier rooms. The bold colors and wavy lines are very abstract similar to Dali with its surrealist vibe. I used black to outline much of this painting. ‘Park Avenue’ is a combination of modern art, abstract, surrealism and is a prime example of fine art.
