Opera House Music 48″x48″ Acrylic on Tile Board with Black Frame, April 2014.

Opera House Music/ DR G BILL; the story behind DR G BILL is that opera is always art. While I was painting this I received a phone call from an old friend whom I haven’t heard from in a long time. After conversing for a while, it was revealed to me that this person just recently got out of rehab. This person later explained to me that at their worst, they were spending hundreds of dollars a day on drugs. I thought to myself as they were telling me this that if you can afford that amount of money for drugs…..you can afford to buy this painting. Dr. G Bill is a direct contradiction of a playbill. I didn’t want to come right out and display that Dr. G Bill are two words that’s missing a very important “U”. The “RX” symbol on the right of the painting is meant to give a hint to the fact that Dr. G Bill is really Drug Bill without the U. People who first see this piece are automatically drawn to the dragon playing the puce piano. Opera House Music is a really interesting and organic piece of art that’s open to a lot of individual interpretation.
