Bovine By CAM. 14″x17″ Oil on Paper, 2015.

Bovine is an abstract painting, created with oil pastels on paper, which depicts a cow. Cow paintings have been created in the past and are still being created by numerous artists in varying styles. I have witnessed several diverse styles of cow paintings that have blown my mind. I am mostly inspired by abstract cows. The reason i have chosen the cow as the focal point of this piece is due to the motherly element they possess due to the fact they produce milk. For the most part my paintings are organic in nature because I never go into my process with a particular look in mind. It starts with an idea and as the process continues to develop, so does the theme of the painting. My original intentions for this painting wasn’t even to design a cow. I drew a few scribbly lines and after the first layer was on, I noticed it started to resemble a cow. So I started to add related details such as a cowbell and a handkerchief. Bovine is the Latin term for the cow family; In college I took zoo archaeology and learned all the genus names of all fauna. Bovine is a vibrant and abstract painting of a smiling cow, standing in a field in the forefront of a windmill with a little chicken as his companion.
