Astro 48″x48″ Acrylic on Tile Board with Black Frame, January 2014.

“Astro” represents an astronaut in space trying to avoid aliens on an extraterrestrial vehicle. The nothingness of space is unproven by this painting. Astro seems to have embarked in a magnitude of creatures while venturing into outer space. I have always said that my one dream in life is to travel into the dark abyss. Outside of the depths of the deepest oceans, the Earth has been discovered in its entirety, and there are very few unknowns. This world is not the only place where life exists in the universe. Life on Earth is possible through a perfect combination of atmosphere, climate, and water and light. Since the universe is considered endless, it is naive to think there are no conscious beings on other planets. Explorations into the unknown galaxy have captivated the imaginations of people since the discovery of our own solar system by Isaac Newton. Curiosity, the rover that was sent to mars has intrigued me for many years, because it offers us a glimpse to the fact that life outside of earth is inevitable. The red lights can’t stop Astro and the yellow and blue colors are as bright as can be.
